Course Requirements & Grading
Attendance, Attitude: 15%
- 1 point per week based on class attendance, performance, attitude
Blog Posts (16): 30%
- Short check-in posts should be 250+ words
- How to Post (Link to Directions)
- Posts are graded 0-2
- 0 = Not or inadequately completed
- 1 = Fair, mostly completed
- 2 = Good, fully completed
Quizzes & Participation: 5%
- Weekly reading and concept quizzes
- Will occur at the beginning of class
- If you are late you will not be given extra time and you cannot make it up
Twitter Participation (16): 10%
- Join Twitter and tweet each week using our class hashtag, #PNMF18
- Tweet topics are listed in the Course Schedule
- By the end of the semester you should have at least 16 tweets for the course
- You are welcome to tweet more than 16 times 🙂
Midterm “Short Guide”: 15%
- Produce a “Short Guide to TOPIC/PLATFORM/TOOL OF YOUR CHOICE”
- Examples: Cryptocurrencies, XBOX, Pintrest, Occulus VR, etc.
- Guides will include
- Historical overview of development
- Economic/Financial Background
- Profile of Stakeholders & Users
- Common Uses of Platform/Tool/Topic
- Strengths & Weaknesses
Final Website Project 10%
- Create a website on the Blogs@Baruch platform that runs on the WordPress web framework
- Your website can focus on a topic of your choice (cannot be business or commercial) Examples:
- Personal Website or blog
- Work/showcase website
- More In-depth exploration of midterm “short guide”
- Fan or theme website
Final Exam: 15%
- This will be a comprehensive exam covering the concepts we discussed over the course of the semester. It will be multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, and short answer. You will synthesize your thoughts from this semester and connect these ideas with the three “Final Exam” readings on the course schedule.
